Old Glass Trade Beads (5) Reddish Orange Chevron (Black, Green and White)

These are old trade beads, but I cannot verify where they were made. They resemble Venetian Chevron but they look more like a hand made or shaped round bead, possibly Krobo. African artisans subsequently copied glass cane beads such as the Millefiori and Chevron using powdered glass techniques to produce indigenous African Kiffa Beads with similar patterns. Additional well-known varieties of trade beads include Dogon Beads, Vaseline Beads, Russian Blue Beads, Skunk Beads and many others. There are five of theses beads that match and they are a rusty orange color with green, white and black millefiori canes on them. They have fairly large holes with the exception of one that has a slightly smaller hole opening. Today, Trade Beads are world-renown for their rich legacy and aesthetic beauty. While African Trade Beads have long been highly regarded in African culture, their appreciation in Western countries continues to grow both among bead collectors. The penny pictured shows the diameter of the beads which are smaller than the penny. Each bead averages 17 mm and has a 4-5 mm hole. They would add interest and color to a bracelet or necklace.
